Committing to your first tattoo can be very intimidating, the following is a run down of what you can expect to happen before, during, and after your first tattoo.
Consultations are a conversation between the potential client and artist to review the details of the tattoo. Consultations are generally free of charge. I begin my consultation process by having you fill out an Appointment Request Form so that I can gather as much information as possible about what you're looking for up front. I'll email you to discuss when I receive your form.
Once I feel that I have all of the information that I need to prepare your design, I'll provide a quote. For smaller pieces, the quote will be a set dollar amount. For larger pieces over 3 hours, I'll provide an estimate of time and the actual cost will reflect the time it takes to complete your tattoo.
Along with the quote, I'll provide a link to a webpage that explains how to send the deposit and complete the deposit waiver form. If you are not sure about any aspect of your tattoo idea, or not sure if I'm the right artist for the job, or if you are anything less then 100% enthusiastic about getting the tattoo we discussed, I recommend stopping here.
Only commit to your artist with a deposit when you are ready to book your tattoo.
Booking your appointment:
Once you've paid your deposit, let me know, and I'll offer you the nearest appointment dates. Once you've picked one and I've confirmed, you're all set!
Please note: I do not send any drawings out via email. You will see your tattoo design when you arrive for your appointment, and if any small changes are needed, I'll be able to make them at that time.
Preparing for your appointment:
To have the best tattoo experience, take care of your body before your appointment. Stay hydrated, get a good night's sleep, and eat a substantial meal within a few hours of your appointment. I recommend bringing water/juice and a snack to your appointment. Also, avoid caffeine (day of), alcohol (day of and day before), and sun exposure (week before).
At The Shop:
When you arrive for your appointment, you will be asked to fill out a consent waiver (you'll need your ID for this). From there, I'll bring you to my station and show you where to put your coat/water/etc.
From here I'll show you the design, place the stencil on your body, and make sure that we're both happy with how it looks on you. I'll explain what I'm doing, and when we're starting. Your ongoing consent is important, and you can ask for breaks, or to stop, at any point.
After Your Tattoo:
When we're done, I'll let you know how I would like you to take care of your new tattoo. Full aftercare instructions can be found here.
Once you leave, I'm still here for you. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!
